Hardie (Softback) () (Second hand copy in very good condition) The Lickey Hills are a range of hills in Worcestershire, south-west of Birmingham. The hills area includes a wide range of rocks of various ages, from Precambrian volcanic rocks to Triassic sandstones and marls.

Returning to the low hills of Winston County (Alabama) where I was born a loooong time ago, I realized the rocks were always a significant part of the scenery. I was curious about the strip mines and coal mines in Walker and Winston Co., as industry was changing the look of the land as I remembered it.5/5(21).

The Alabama Hills are a formation of rounded rocks and eroded hills set between the jagged peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the geologically complex Inyo Mountains.

Both geologic features were shaped by the same uplifting occurring million years ago. The hills are located west of Lone Pine and are managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Lickey Hills This circular walk guides you through four of the different rock types which make up the Lickey Hills.

You will walk over heathland, through woodland and conifer plantations, and see panoramic views on a clear day. On this trail are several different types of sedimentary rocks, ranging in age from to million years old. The core of the Hocking Hills is Hocking County.
